On-the-Day Stationery You Need For Your Wedding Day

Every piece of stationery and signage you might need for your big day.

Bari Collection

So, we’ve already tackled (not literally) all the wedding stationery you might need before your wedding day. But now it’s time for all the stationery and signage you need for the actual day.

Of course, we know every wedding is different, so you might not need everything listed below, but I find it’s better to plan the all-singing-all-dancing version of your wedding, then you can remove the pieces you don’t feel are a priority.

Having said this, I do think there are some must-haves, which I’ll explain below. Let’s get cracking!

Before The Ceremony

Welcome Signage

Greet your guests with a beautiful welcome sign. Now you might be thinking, why would I need a welcome sign, surely my guests know what they’re there for? Which is a very good point. However… I think this is a must-have. This sign will set the tone for what’s to come during your big day and highlight the style of your wedding. These can be quite fun and quirky, with a joke or two such as ‘Welcome to Rebecca’s Wedding, featuring Daniel’ or it can purely thank your guests for attending your big day.

Order of the Day

It’s been a while since your guests received their invitations or visited your wedding website, so an Order of the Day is a great reminder of what’s happening throughout your wedding. This can be another sign displayed with your welcome signage, or beautifully printed programme for each of your guests. This is another must-have in my opinion, this way you won’t be bombarded with questions of what’s happening next and you can enjoy your day.

Unplugged Ceremony Sign

This is a personal favourite of mine, but not necessarily a must have. But picture this, you receive your wedding photographs after a few months of waiting (very patiently of course, because your photographer is absolutely incredible). You sit down and start to look through the ceremony photos and all you can see is blurred mobile phones surrounding you and your other half as you say ‘I do’. Not ideal. You guests might wish to capture photos and videos of you walking down the aisle or standing together, but that’s why you’ve hired a photographer. Use this opportunity to remind your guests not to use their mobile phones during the ceremony, I can guarantee your own photographer will capture this special moment much better than any iPhone.

Reserved Seating Signage

If you have a wedding planner, this might not be necessary because they’ll guide your guests to their appropriate seats (especially your VIPs who you’d like to sit at the front). But if you haven’t, and your Groomsmen aren’t up the task (no offence) reserved seating signs to tie around the chairs might be a good idea. This way, your family are guaranteed the prime spots to watch you say ‘I do’ while also saving seats for your bridesmaids once they’ve walked down the aisle.

After The Ceremony

Table Plan

Another must-have! When it comes to your wedding breakfast, we’d like everything to run as smoothly as possible and a seating plan will remove any confusion for your guests. They’ll know exactly where they’re sitting, so you don’t need to worry. This can be another simple sign with table numbers and names listed below, or they could include your guests wedding favours or a hand-written note to each person, don’t be afraid to get creative and add a personal touch here if you want to!

Table Numbers/Names

This is quite important, especially if you’re having a big wedding. It’s help your guests find their seats from looking at your seating plan, and provides some organisation. However, if you’re only having two long tables, this might not be necessary, but I’d highly recommend your table plan (above) is an exact plan of where each guest is sitting, and each seat has their own Place Card, which leads me to my next item…

Place Cards

These are very important. Not only are they a personal touch for each guest (and potentially a keepsake) but they indicate what table your guests are sitting at. They’ll also help the venue determine which meal each guest is having. So should you have any guests with dietary requirements or allergies, a seating plan and place cards are a must-have!

Menus

I might sound like a broken record at this point, but this is another must-have from me! These can be individual menus, or smaller signs per 6-8 guests along your wedding tables. They’ll give an overview of what is being served for the meal. Some can include the options for each course, or a list of food that’s being served family/buffet style, or a popular option is to have a bespoke menu for each guest with exactly what they’ve chosen to eat.

Drinks Menu

Now, if you’re having signature drinks for your wedding reception (which is such a fun idea) you’ll need a menu or two, placed at the bar, so your guests can order them.

Wedding Cake Sign

Everyone wants to know which flavour you’ve chosen for your wedding cake, so why not create another sign that looks beautiful next to it.

Other Signage

Now we’ve covered most of the stationery and signage you’ll need for the big day, but here a few other ideas you may not have thought of.

  1. Guest Book Sign.

  2. Vow Books for the ceremony.

  3. Favour Tags.

  4. Confetti Bags.

  5. ‘Pick a Seat, not a Side’ Signage.

  6. Evening Meal/Snacks Menu.

  7. QR Codes for guests to send photos to (these are always fun to look back on)
